Tombelaine is fascinated by the interior of people and how that is
manifest on the exterior. His portraits evolve from more than simple
pencil put to paper; rather there is an unfolding of the person’s spirit.
When he first puts pencil to paper there is no visual resemblance to the
subject, and then as if by magic their essence appears.
